Cafe Regatta

Oh it's a glorious night tonight. Here I am in bed with 'Some Nights' by Fun repeating in the background. Tucked in bed with a warm cup of tea. Cuddling with my husband and my puppy and typing THIS. And all of that before 10pm. It's a dream, I tell you.

Today it was Juho's and mine date evening and he took me to this beautiful little cafe by the sea called The Regatta.

It's a quirky little cafe with the most interesting signs and in my opinion, quite a unique little system. We sat outside on the terrace and luckily for us the sun was out in all it's glory! It's pretty cold and windy though considering it's Autumn but that didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful scenary and enjoying our little cinnamon buns and tea and coffee.

In this place, they pay YOU 5cents to have another cup of coffee! I mean, come on...it doesn't get better than that! And the place is filled with weird and hilarious little signs and decor - there is no boring corner in this cafe!

"This an announcement! If you want more coffee you won't pay anything for it, but we will pay you 5cents for a cup"

This toilet is occupied ;)

All in all, it's a lovely little cafe to spend your evening, especially if it's good weather. So go ahead and check it out! You won't be disappointed :)

Goodnight!

Ravintola Baobab

So over the weekend, Juho and I were tired of eating Chicken and Salad as we have been doing (mostly because of my so-called diet!) so we thought we would make use of our little Groupon coupons and went for an African lunch date.

Now for me, this was very exciting, as you all know my love of anything African and I always enjoyed the African food in Uni, so I was looking forward to this. We went to a little restaurant called "Baobab" in Helsinki.

It was a tiny little place with UB40 playing in the background and who doesn't love a little reggea music to keep you in the groove? (sigh, I really don't know where I come up with these lame statements.) Anyhoo, it's a fairly new restaurant, opened 5 months ago. The owner was lovely! As all Africans are, he was friendly and talkative and it's been awhile since I've had an exciting conversation with a waiter!

I had a dish called 'Yassa' which was spicy chicken cooked with vegetables and onions and Juho ordered the 'Domoda' which was chicken cooked in peanut butter (interesting, I know). I must say, they were both quite nice and had such a fresh and unique taste. It's been awhile since we've had something so different. The food was rich in different flavours but none of them too strong.

On the whole, it was a lovely lunch date! So if ever you are in the area, go try out the food at Baobab. I'm sure you'll love it!

Have a lovely Monday,
Keshi
